COURSE CURRICULUM

The Accounting specialization in the Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) program at University Canada West is designed to provide students with the essential knowledge and practical skills needed for careers in accounting and finance. This specialization combines theoretical understanding with real-world application, preparing graduates for roles in areas such as public accounting, corporate finance, auditing, and financial analysis. The program is aligned with the standards of CPA Canada, enabling students to transfer up to 15 preparatory courses toward the CPA designation and transition smoothly into the CPA Professional Education Program. In addition to completing the core BCom courses, students pursuing this specialization must select at least five courses from a set of advanced accounting subjects. These include Managerial Accounting II, Auditing and Assurance, Income Taxation, Intermediate Financial Reporting I and II, Strategic Managerial Accounting, and Advanced Financial Reporting. This flexible course selection allows students to tailor their studies based on their interests and career goals while gaining in-depth expertise in financial reporting, taxation, auditing practices, and strategic accounting. Overall, the specialization equips students with strong analytical, technical, and professional skills required to succeed in the global accounting industry.
