COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts in Business Communication (BABC) at University Canada West is an interdisciplinary program designed to equip students with a solid foundation in business, media, and communication. The program offers a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical skills through a scaffolded sequence of courses, blending business fundamentals with communication strategies and media studies. Students begin with preparatory orientation and foundational Tier 1 courses in academic writing, business analytics, communication, economics, and media, as well as electives to build breadth. Tier 2 focuses on developing disciplinary knowledge through courses in business ethics, marketing, organizational behaviour, content creation, and digital marketing. Career preparation and applied learning are emphasized through real-world case scenarios and interactive learning environments. Tier 3 advances students' skills through professional communication, digital storytelling, and project management, while exploring risk communication, media writing, and leadership in communication contexts. In Tier 4, students synthesize their learning in capstone projects and strategic communication planning, with options to pursue practical experience through a practicum. The program offers both online and in-person delivery and includes elective areas such as Communications Management, where students can further specialize through advanced courses in strategic management, e-business, operations, and integrated marketing. With a strong focus on teamwork, real-world applications, and ethical communication, BABC graduates are prepared for diverse roles in public relations, media, corporate communication, marketing, and other communication-driven industries.
