COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Science in Applied Modelling and Quantitative Methods (AMOD) at Trent University is a research-focused interdisciplinary graduate program designed to train students in advanced mathematical, statistical, and computational modelling techniques. The program integrates methods from multiple disciplines to address complex problems in both natural and social sciences. Students begin by completing 0.5 credit from AMOD 5220H, AMOD 5230H, or AMOD 5240H, which provide advanced training in specialized modelling approaches and quantitative analysis. They also complete 1.0 credit from AMOD 5901H and AMOD 5902H, which focus on research development, seminar participation, and preparation for thesis work. A central requirement of the program is the thesis project, which involves conducting independent, original research under faculty supervision. The thesis allows students to apply modelling techniques to real-world problems in fields such as biology, economics, geography, psychology, or computer science, depending on their area of specialization. In addition, students complete 1.5 elective credits, which provide flexibility to deepen expertise in their chosen discipline or expand interdisciplinary knowledge. These electives must be selected from approved graduate-level offerings.
