COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Science in Forensic Science (Course-Based) at Trent University is a professional graduate program designed to prepare students for immediate entry into forensic science careers through a combination of coursework, laboratory training, and experiential learning. The program is structured over three academic terms and can typically be completed in one year. Students complete 2.0 required credits from core courses, including FRSC 5001H, FRSC 5003H, FRSC 5030H (with some exceptions based on prior coursework), and FRSC 5040H. These core courses provide essential training in forensic science principles, analytical techniques, and professional practices. In addition, students complete 2.0 elective credits selected from a range of advanced forensic science topics such as FRSC 5007H, 5010H, 5070H, 5100H, 5320H, 5600H, or 5800H, allowing them to specialize in specific areas of interest. A key component of the program is FRSC 5009H, the research placement, which provides students with hands-on professional experience in real forensic settings. This placement helps students apply theoretical knowledge to real-world investigations and develop industry-relevant skills. The program is structured so that students typically take two core courses per term along with electives, ensuring balanced academic and practical training.
