COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Science in Applied Modelling & Quantitative Methods: Big Data Financial Analytics at Trent University is an interdisciplinary graduate program designed to develop advanced expertise in financial data analysis, quantitative modelling, and computational methods. The program focuses on applying statistical, mathematical, and computational tools to large and complex financial datasets in order to support decision-making in modern financial environments. Students are trained to bridge theory and practice, combining rigorous analytical foundations with real-world financial applications such as risk assessment, forecasting, portfolio optimization, and market analysis. The curriculum includes 2.5 credits from AMOD 5210H, AMOD 5240H, AMOD 5260H, and AMOD 5620Y, which provide core training in advanced modelling techniques and financial analytics. Students also complete 0.5 credit from AMOD 5250H or AMOD 5460H, focusing on specialized methodological or applied financial topics. In addition, 2.0 credits are selected from a range of advanced courses including AMOD 5220H, AMOD 5230H, AMOD 5510H, AMOD 5520H, AMOD 5530H, AMOD 5540H, AMOD 5550H, or AMOD 5560H, allowing students to tailor their studies toward specific areas within financial analytics.
