COURSE CURRICULUM

The four-year Honours Bachelor of Social Work program at Trent University requires the completion of 20.0 total credits, including at least 11.5 credits in Social Work (SWRK), and is structured to provide both foundational knowledge and advanced professional training. In Year 1, students complete 1.0 SWRK credit through introductory courses SWRK 1000H and 1001H, along with 3.0 credits in Humanities, Social Sciences, or Psychology at the 1000 level or higher, plus an additional 1.0 elective credit. In Year 2, students build on this foundation by completing SWRK 2001H and 2004H, alongside 3.0 credits at the 2000 level or higher in related disciplines and another 1.0 elective credit. The Professional Years, which include Years 3 and 4, focus heavily on specialized Social Work education and practice. In Year 3, students complete 4.5 SWRK credits through a series of core courses, along with an additional 0.5 SWRK credit at the 3000 level. In Year 4, students undertake 4.0 SWRK credits, including advanced coursework and a major practicum component, plus an additional 0.5 SWRK credit at the 3000 level and a 0.5 elective credit. This structure ensures comprehensive academic and practical preparation for professional social work practice.
