COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at Trent University offers both single-major and joint-major Honours program options. The single-major Honours program requires 20.0 credits, including 14.5 specified credits in chemistry and related disciplines. This includes 5.5 core CHEM credits covering foundational and intermediate topics, 0.5 CHEM credit from either CHEM 3400H or 3410H, 2.0 additional CHEM credits at the 3000 level, and 3.0 CHEM credits at the 4000 level with at least 1.5 credits from lecture courses. Students must also complete either 1.0 additional science credit at the 4000 level or 1.0 CHEM credit at the 3000 level or higher, along with 1.0 PHYS credit (PHYS 1001H and 1002H), 1.0 MATH credit (MATH 1110H and 1122H), and 0.5 additional MATH or COIS credit, excluding certain introductory math courses. A maximum of 2.0 credits from CHEM thesis or project courses may be counted. The program also includes university-wide requirements such as 0.5 credit from the Approved Indigenous Course List. The joint-major Honours program also requires 20.0 credits, including 8.5 in core chemistry and math: 2.5 foundational CHEM credits, 0.5 additional CHEM at the 2000 level, 2.0 CHEM credits at the 3000 level, 2.0 CHEM credits at the 4000 level, 1.0 MATH credit (MATH 1110H and 1122H), and 0.5 additional MATH or COIS credit, while also fulfilling the Indigenous credit and a total of 14.0 science credits.
