COURSE CURRICULUM

The Teacher Education Stream at Trent University is a structured four-year program designed to prepare undergraduate students for entry into a consecutive Bachelor of Education and a future career in teaching at the elementary or secondary level. The stream is completed alongside an Honours degree and provides a progressive sequence of education-focused courses that build foundational knowledge, pedagogical understanding, and professional readiness. In Year 1, students complete 0.5 EDUC credit through EDUC 1050H, which introduces key concepts in education and teaching practice. In Year 2, students expand their learning by completing 1.0 EDUC credit through EDUC 2050H and 2051H, focusing on deeper exploration of educational theory and classroom-related skills. In Year 3, students choose between two pathways: either completing 1.0 EDUC credit through EDUC 3050H and 3051H or participating in a Year Abroad Program, which provides international exposure and a broader educational perspective. In Year 4, students complete their final 1.0 EDUC credit through EDUC 4050H and 4051H, emphasizing advanced educational concepts and preparation for professional teacher education programs.
