COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science Honours Program in Psychology at Trent University offers a comprehensive and research-focused curriculum designed for students seeking advanced scientific training in psychology. The program is available in both single-major and joint-major formats and provides two pathways: a course option and a thesis option. Students must complete a total of 20.0 credits, including 10.0 credits in Psychology. Core courses include PSYC 1020H, 1030H, 2018H, 2019H, and 3016H, which establish a strong foundation in psychological theory, research methods, and data analysis. Additional requirements include credits from categories A2, B2, A3, and B3, along with at least 1.0 credit at the 4000 level to ensure exposure to advanced topics. Students must then complete 3.5 additional Psychology credits by choosing either the Course Option, which emphasizes upper-level coursework, or the Thesis Option, which includes a major research project through PSYC 4020D along with PSYC 3017H and an additional senior-level course. Beyond Psychology, the program requires 14.0 science credits, including at least 2.0 credits outside Psychology, as well as a mandatory 1.0 Mathematics credit, fulfilled by PSYC 2018H and 2019H. Students must also meet overall university requirements, including an Indigenous course credit.
