COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Physics (Honours) at Trent University is a 20.0-credit program designed to provide an advanced and in-depth study of physical laws, mathematical methods, and computational tools used to understand the universe. Students complete a comprehensive set of Physics courses, including PHYS 1001H, 1002H, 2130H, 2150H, 2610H, 2700H, 3130H, 3150H, 3200Y, 3610H, 4140H, 4220H, 4610H, and 4700H, along with additional Physics credits that allow for further specialization and advanced exploration at both intermediate and upper levels, including at least one 4000-level course. The program also integrates strong mathematical preparation, requiring MATH 1110H or 1111H (recommended), MATH 1120H or 1121H (recommended), and MATH 2110H and 2120H, while MATH 1550H is strongly recommended for Honours students to strengthen analytical and modelling skills. A minimum grade of 60% in MATH 1120H or 1121H is required for entry into upper-level Physics courses, and MATH 1350H is a prerequisite for advanced Mathematics courses. Students also complete COIS 1020H to gain computational skills relevant to modern physics research and applications. In addition to program requirements, students must satisfy university-wide degree requirements, including 0.5 credit from an Approved Indigenous Course List and 14.0 science credits. Graduates are well prepared for careers in research, technology, engineering, data science, and graduate studies in physics and related fields.
