COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology (Honours) at Trent University is a 20.0-credit program designed to provide an in-depth understanding of human movement, health, and physical performance through an interdisciplinary scientific approach. The program prepares students for professional careers in kinesiology, rehabilitation, fitness, and health promotion by combining theory with extensive practical training. Students complete 16.0 required Kinesiology (KINE) credits, including foundational, intermediate, and advanced courses such as KINE 1001H, 2001H, 2002H, 2003H, 2210H, 3001H, 3002H, 3725H, 4002H, 4005H, 4190H, and 4710H, along with additional advanced KINE coursework including KINE 4010Y or a combination of KINE 4050H and 4051H. The program also integrates strong supporting sciences, including Biology (BIOL 1500H, 1501H, and 3660H), Psychology (PSYC 1020H, 1030H, 2018H, 2019H, 2550H, and 3750H), Nursing (NURS 1550H, 2000H, 2015H, 2550H, and 3031H), Sociology (SOCI 1001H, 1002H, and 2630H), and Physics (PHYS 1060H or 1000H recommended). A unique requirement of the program is proof of Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification prior to entering 4000-level KINE courses, ensuring students are prepared for applied and clinical learning environments. The program emphasizes both academic knowledge and real-world application, enabling students to analyze human movement, design exercise programs, and work with diverse populations. Graduates are well prepared for certification as Registered Kinesiologists (R.Kin.) and careers in healthcare, rehabilitation, and sport science.
