COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science program in Environmental Chemistry at Trent University is an intensive and research-focused degree that prepares students to study chemical processes in natural and impacted environments. The program integrates chemistry and environmental science to help students understand how substances are created, transformed, and transported through ecosystems such as air, water, and soil. It also examines the effects of pollutants and natural chemicals on ecological and human health systems. Students build a strong foundation through a wide range of chemistry courses covering analytical, organic, inorganic, and environmental chemistry, along with supporting studies in earth systems, biology, and mathematics. These courses develop both theoretical knowledge and practical laboratory skills, including chemical analysis, data interpretation, and the use of modern scientific instruments. Environmental science components strengthen understanding of ecological processes and environmental change, while upper-level chemistry and environmental courses provide advanced training in pollution science and environmental monitoring.
