COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science Honours in Environmental & Resource Science at Trent University is a 20.0-credit program designed to provide advanced training in environmental science, ecology, and resource management. The program includes core ERSC courses such as ERSC 1010H, 1020H, 2080H, 2220H, 2230H, and 2240H, which build foundational knowledge in environmental systems, earth sciences, and resource analysis. Students also complete ERST 3000H as part of the core requirements, strengthening their understanding of environmental studies and sustainability frameworks. The degree is structured to allow specialization through additional credits selected from different categories, including ERSC and ERST courses that focus on applied environmental science, policy, and interdisciplinary environmental issues. Students must also complete upper-level coursework at the 3000 level or beyond to ensure depth of study and advanced analytical skills. In addition to program-specific requirements, students are required to meet university-wide standards, including Indigenous studies coursework, a minimum of 14.0 science credits, and at least 1.0 MATH credit. The joint-major Honours option follows a similar structure but with fewer ERSC credits, allowing students to combine environmental science with another discipline. Overall, the program prepares graduates for careers in environmental assessment, conservation, sustainability planning, resource management, and further academic study in environmental and earth sciences.
