COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science Honours program in Biomedical Science at Trent University is a 20.0-credit single-major degree designed to provide strong interdisciplinary training in human biology, health sciences, and biomedical research. Students must maintain a minimum cumulative average of 75% to remain in the program, with alternative pathways available to transfer into Biology or other disciplines if this requirement is not met. The program includes 14.0 core and supporting credits across multiple scientific fields. Foundational study begins with BIOM 1000H and core biology courses such as BIOL 2050H, 2070H, 2600H, 3040H, and 3080H, complemented by chemistry training through CHEM 1000H, 1010H, and 2100H. Students also complete mathematics courses including MATH 1110H and 1120H, along with psychology (PSYC 1020H and 1030H) and philosophy (PHIL 2390H) to strengthen analytical and ethical reasoning. Additional science breadth includes BIOL, CHEM, MATH, and PHYS electives at various levels. A major component of the program is advanced biomedical science specialization, where students select from BIOM 4450Y or BIOM 4451H/4460H and complete upper-year courses from a wide list of biology, chemistry, psychology, and health-related disciplines. Experiential learning is limited to a maximum of 3.5 credits in research or placement courses. Students must also meet university-wide requirements, including 14.0 science credits and 0.5 credit from the Approved Indigenous Course List.
