COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science Honours program in Artificial Intelligence at Trent University is a 20-credit single-major degree designed to provide strong technical training in AI, computing, and mathematics. Students complete 11.0 core program credits across Artificial Intelligence (AIST), Computer Science/Information Systems (COIS), and Mathematics. The AI core includes 5.0 credits from courses such as AIST 1000H, 1400H, 2000H, 2010H, 3550H, 3561H, 3570H, 4400H, 4550H, and 4851H, covering foundational concepts through advanced topics in machine learning and intelligent systems. Students also complete 1.0 AIST credit from upper-level courses like AIST 3270H, 3410H, or 4270H. The computing component includes 2.5 COIS credits from courses such as COIS 1020H, 2020H, 2040H, 2240H, and 3510H, focusing on programming, systems, and computational methods. In addition, students complete 1.5 MATH credits from courses including MATH 1110H, 1350H, and 1550H to build strong quantitative and analytical skills. A further 1.0 credit is required from advanced AI, computing, or mathematics-related electives such as AIST 3004H, AIST 4430H, or COIS 3040H. Alongside these requirements, students must fulfill university-wide degree conditions, including 14.0 science credits and 0.5 credit from the Approved Indigenous Course List, ensuring a strong scientific foundation.
