COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science Honours program in Archaeology at Trent University is a 20.0-credit single-major degree that combines archaeology with strong training in the natural sciences. Students must achieve a minimum grade of 60% in ANTH-AGRS 1030H to qualify for the Honours BSc in Archaeology. The program includes 14.5 credits in Archaeology and related Anthropology courses. This begins with 3.5 core credits from ANTH 1001H, 1030H, 2121H, 2122H, 2123H, 2150H, and 3123H, which provide foundational knowledge in archaeological methods and human evolution. Students then complete 1.0 credit from advanced courses such as ANTH 3000Y, 3151H, 3152H, 3153H, 3165H, 3850Y, 3851H, or 3855H, along with 2.5 credits from a broader list of archaeology-focused upper-year courses. Additional requirements include 1.0 credit at the 4000 level, 1.0 credit at the 3000 level or higher, and another 1.0 credit in Archaeology categories A and/or B. The science component includes 0.5 GEOG credit, 1.5 credits from Biology, Chemistry, or Physics, 1.0 MATH credit (recommended MATH 1051H and 1052H), and an additional 1.5 science credits. Students must also meet university-wide requirements, including 0.5 credit from the Approved Indigenous Course List, ensuring a strong interdisciplinary and scientific foundation for archaeological study.
