COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science Honours program in Anthropology at Trent University is a 20.0-credit single-major degree that integrates anthropology with strong scientific training. Students must complete 12.0 credits in Anthropology (ANTH), beginning with 4.5 foundational credits from courses such as ANTH 1001H, 1030H, 2123H, 2150H, 2410H, 3123H, 3153H, 3404H, and 3731H. The program requires 1.0 credit at the 4000 level, ensuring advanced specialization, along with 3.0 additional credits at the 3000 level or higher for deeper study in areas such as biological anthropology, archaeology, and scientific research methods. Students also complete 1.5 additional ANTH credits, including at least 0.5 credit from each of Categories A, B, and C, allowing exploration across subfields. In addition, the degree requires 1.0 MATH credit, with MATH 1051H and 1052H recommended, and 1.0 credit from BIOL, CHEM, MATH, or PHYS to strengthen scientific foundations. Joint-major students, such as those combining Anthropology with Forensic Science, may share certain introductory MATH and science credits across programs under specific rules. Overall, students must also satisfy university-wide requirements, including 14.0 science credits and 0.5 credit from the Approved Indigenous Course List, and may count no more than 1.0 reading course credit toward the Honours degree.
