COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science Honours program in Health & Behaviour at Trent University is a 20.0-credit degree that examines human health through biological, psychological, and social perspectives. The program integrates knowledge from multiple disciplines to help students understand how behaviour, environment, and physiology interact to influence health outcomes. Students complete 12.5 core credits across Health Studies (HEAL), Biology (BIOL), Kinesiology (KINE), Nursing (NURS), Psychology (PSYC), and Sociology (SOCI). Key Health Studies courses such as HEAL 1005H, 2005H, 3001H, 3002H, 3755H, 4001H, and 4700H provide a strong foundation in health theory, research methods, and applied health issues. Biology courses focus on human biology and physiological systems, while Kinesiology and Nursing courses add practical and clinical perspectives. Psychology and Sociology courses explore mental processes, behaviour, and the influence of social structures on health. The program emphasizes research skills, critical thinking, and evidence-based analysis, preparing students to evaluate complex health issues and apply scientific findings in real-world contexts. Students are also encouraged to pursue a research thesis (HEAL 4010Y) if planning graduate studies.
