COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science in Geography (General) at Trent University is a 15.0-credit program that emphasizes the scientific study of physical environments and spatial processes. Students complete 6.0 Geography (GEOG) credits, beginning with core courses such as GEOG 1030H and 1040H, which serve as essential prerequisites for most upper-level courses, along with GEOG 2080H, 2090H, and 3100H. Additional requirements include 0.5 credit from courses like GEOG 2310H, 2320H, 2330H, 2710H, or 2810H, and 1.0 credit from GEOG 2401H, 2460H, or 2540H, which focus on physical and environmental geography topics. Students also complete 0.5 credit from Category A (excluding certain advanced courses) and 1.5 credits from Category B, ensuring exposure to a range of scientific and analytical approaches within the discipline. The program maintains academic rigor by requiring that no course fulfills more than one category requirement, though approved reading courses may count toward some categories.
