COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science program in Environmental Geoscience at Trent University is a rigorous, field-focused degree that explores the Earth’s physical structure, natural processes, and environmental systems. The program integrates multiple scientific disciplines, including geology, chemistry, biology, mathematics, physics, and geography, to help students understand how the Earth evolves and how natural resources can be studied and managed responsibly. Students complete a structured sequence of geoscience courses covering topics such as Earth materials, geological mapping, sedimentology, structural geology, and advanced Earth system processes. Alongside core geoscience training, students build a strong foundation in chemistry and physics to better understand the composition and behavior of rocks, minerals, and natural environments. Mathematics and data analysis courses support quantitative problem-solving and scientific interpretation. Field-based learning is a central component of the program, with opportunities to apply classroom knowledge in real geological settings through mapping exercises, field camps, and outdoor investigations.
