COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science Co-op program in Archaeology at Trent University combines the standard BSc Honours Archaeology degree with a structured co-op stream that includes professional work experience. This is a competitive direct-entry program with limited seats, although students may apply after beginning their studies if spaces are available. To remain in the co-op program, students must successfully complete COOP 2000H and COOP 4000H with minimum grades of 70% and 65% respectively, maintain a cumulative average of at least 75%, and receive satisfactory evaluations during three required work terms. Students who fail to meet the COOP 2000H requirement are removed from the co-op stream but may continue in the Archaeology program or switch to another major, while those who fail COOP 4000H may still graduate with an Honours degree but without the co-op designation. The program includes three non-credit work terms: COOP 2100P, COOP 3100P, and COOP 4100P, providing hands-on industry and field experience in archaeology-related settings. Eligibility for the first work term requires completion of COOP 2000H with at least 70% and a minimum of 10.0 academic credits. Students are expected to follow a structured academic and work-term sequence, and additional minors or specializations may extend degree completion time. Academic advising is recommended for effective planning.
