COURSE CURRICULUM

The Information Systems & e-Commerce Specialization within the Bachelor of Business Administration or Business Administration joint-major program at Trent University is designed for students who want to combine business knowledge with computing, digital systems, and online commerce skills. To earn this specialization, students must complete 4.5 credits with a minimum grade of 65% in each course, ensuring strong academic performance in both business and technology-related subjects. The program includes 1.0 ADMN credit focused on information systems fundamentals, including Introduction to Information Systems and Systems Analysis and Design, which build an understanding of how organizations use technology to manage operations. Students also complete 2.0 COIS credits covering key computing areas such as programming, software design and modelling, web development, and digital systems. These courses provide practical technical skills in coding, application development, and online platforms. In addition, students complete 1.0 ADMN credit from courses such as online marketing, project management, or field placement experience, helping them connect technical knowledge with real-world business applications. Finally, 0.5 COIS credit is selected from advanced topics such as databases, software development, or server-side web technologies.
