COURSE CURRICULUM

The Human Resource Management Specialization within the Bachelor of Business Administration or Business Administration joint-major program at Trent University is designed for students who want to develop expertise in managing people, workplace systems, and organizational development. To earn this specialization, students must complete 5.5 credits with a minimum grade of 65% in each course and maintain an overall average of at least 70% across the specialization, ensuring strong academic performance in human resources and related business areas. The program includes a comprehensive set of ADMN courses that cover both foundational and advanced HR concepts. Students begin with core subjects such as Financial Accounting, Organizational Behaviour, Human Resource Management, and Fundamentals of Managerial Accounting, which build essential business knowledge. They then progress to specialized HR courses including Organizational Selection in the Canadian Workplace, Training and Development, Human Resource Planning, Motivation and Compensation Systems, Occupational Health and Safety, and Canadian Employment Law. The specialization also includes Economics of Industrial Relations, which provides insight into labour markets and workplace relations. Overall, this program prepares graduates for careers in human resources, recruitment, training and development, employee relations, compensation management, and organizational consulting, equipping them with the skills needed to manage people effectively in modern workplaces.
