COURSE CURRICULUM

The Global Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Social Change Specialization within the Bachelor of Business Administration or joint-major Business Administration program at Trent University is designed for students interested in global business, development, and social impact. To complete this specialization, students must earn 4.0 credits with a minimum grade of 65% in each course, ensuring strong academic performance in interdisciplinary business and development studies. The core requirement includes 1.0 ADMN-GDST credit covering foundational topics such as globalization, transnational corporations, international development, and social entrepreneurship in the Global South. The remaining 3.0 credits are selected from a diverse range of courses that explore global economics, trade, finance, inequality, entrepreneurship, and social innovation. These include subjects such as international trade, international finance, global political economy, economics of developing countries, entrepreneurship, and social enterprise. Students may also take field-based learning courses that provide practical exposure to real-world development and innovation projects. Additionally, students in the BBA or other joint-major programs (excluding Global Development Studies majors) may include relevant courses on global inequality and development studies to fulfill requirements. Overall, this specialization prepares graduates for careers in international development, social entrepreneurship, global consulting, nonprofit leadership, policy analysis, and roles focused on sustainable and socially responsible economic development worldwide.
