COURSE CURRICULUM

The Finance Specialization within the Bachelor of Business Administration or Business Administration joint-major program at Trent University is designed for students seeking advanced knowledge in financial analysis, investment management, and economic decision-making. To complete this specialization, students must earn 5.5 credits with a minimum grade of 65% in each course and an overall average of at least 70%, ensuring strong academic performance in quantitative and financial subjects. The core 1.5 ADMN credits focus on financial management and investments, including Financial Management, Investments, and Financial Management II, which build a strong foundation in corporate finance and strategic financial decision-making. An additional 0.5 ADMN credit can be selected from advanced topics such as derivatives or financial markets and institutions. Students also complete 1.5 ECON credits covering intermediate microeconomics, financial economics, and econometrics, providing essential analytical and economic modeling skills. A full 1.0 credit in mathematics is required, with options including calculus, linear algebra, probability, or applied mathematics, strengthening quantitative and analytical abilities.
