COURSE CURRICULUM

The Ethics & Sustainability Specialization within the Bachelor of Business Administration or Business Administration joint-major program at Trent University is designed for students interested in understanding ethical decision-making, corporate responsibility, and sustainability in modern organizations. To earn this specialization, students must complete 4.0 credits with a minimum grade of 65% in each course, ensuring strong academic performance across business, philosophy, and environmental studies. The program begins with a core 0.5 credit in Personal Ethics in Organizations and Business, which introduces foundational ethical principles in workplace and corporate contexts. Students then complete 1.0 credit in advanced ethics-related business courses such as Business Ethics and Corporations, Ethics and Capitalism, or Perspectives and Practices for Organizational Sustainability. Another 1.0 credit is selected from philosophy courses covering moral theory, political philosophy, justice, biomedical ethics, and emerging areas like cyberethics. The final 1.0 credit focuses on environmental, policy, and sustainability studies, including topics such as environmental law, climate and energy policy, sustainable communities, and environmental management. An additional 0.5 credit is chosen from the approved list to further deepen interdisciplinary understanding. Overall, this specialization prepares graduates for careers in corporate social responsibility, environmental policy, sustainability consulting, public policy, and ethical leadership in business and nonprofit sectors.
