COURSE CURRICULUM

The Economics Specialization within the Bachelor of Business Administration or Business Administration joint-major program at Trent University is designed for students who want to build strong analytical and economic decision-making skills within a business context. To earn this specialization, students must complete 5.5 credits with a minimum grade of 65% in each course, ensuring a solid academic foundation in economics and related business disciplines. The core requirement includes 4.0 ECON credits covering key areas such as introductory microeconomics and macroeconomics, mathematical foundations for economics and management, intermediate microeconomic and macroeconomic theory, statistics for economics and management, financial economics, and international finance. These courses develop a strong understanding of economic principles, data analysis, and global financial systems. In addition, students complete 0.5 ADMN credit in Investments, linking economics with practical financial applications. The remaining 1.0 credit is selected from options such as Business Analytics or additional economics courses, as well as field placement experience that provides real-world exposure. Overall, this specialization equips students with quantitative, analytical, and critical thinking skills, preparing them for careers in finance, banking, economic consulting, policy analysis, and data-driven business roles, as well as further studies in economics or related graduate programs.
