COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts & Science (B.A.S.) General program at Trent University is a flexible 15.0-credit undergraduate degree designed to allow students to explore both scientific and non-scientific disciplines without the strict structure of specialized programs. The program includes 1.5 required B.A.S. credits that form the core foundation of the degree. These consist of 0.5 credit from ASCI 1001H, 1002H, or 2001H, which introduce interdisciplinary thinking across arts and science, along with 0.5 credit in a science subject and 0.5 credit in a non-science subject to ensure balanced exposure to both fields. Beyond these core requirements, students must complete additional elective credits to reach the 15.0-credit total, allowing significant freedom to design a personalized academic pathway based on individual interests and career goals. Unlike the Honours B.A.S. degree, the General program does not require students to complete 11.0 science credits or a mandatory 1.0 MATH credit, making it less rigid and more accessible for broader academic exploration. Students must also fulfill overall university degree requirements, including completing 0.5 credit from the Approved Indigenous Course List.
