COURSE CURRICULUM

The Honours Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and Economics at Trent University requires completion of 15.5 credits, combining accounting (ADMN), economics (ECON), and one credit in information systems (COIS). In first year (Level 1000), students build foundational knowledge through courses in financial accounting, digital systems, information systems, introductory microeconomics and macroeconomics, and mathematics for economics. In second year (Level 2000), the focus shifts to core business and economic theory, including marketing, managerial accounting, intermediate microeconomics and macroeconomics, and statistics. Third year (Level 3000) is the most intensive, covering strategic management, financial management, intermediate and advanced accounting topics, taxation, business law, econometrics, and advanced economic theory, along with an additional senior-level economics elective. In the final year (Level 4000), students complete advanced courses in financial management, auditing, advanced accounting, and corporate taxation, along with a research methodology course in economics. Additionally, students must complete 1.5 extra ECON credits at the 2000–4000 level. Overall, the program integrates accounting expertise with strong economic analysis and quantitative skills, preparing students for professional careers or further studies.
