COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts Honours Program in Psychology at Trent University offers students an in-depth and flexible academic pathway with options to pursue either a course-based or thesis-based specialization. Available as both single-major and joint-major programs, the Honours degree requires the completion of 20.0 total credits, including 10.0 credits in Psychology. Core requirements include foundational and advanced courses such as PSYC 1020H, 1030H, 2018H, 2019H, and 3016H, which build essential knowledge in psychological theory, research methods, and data analysis. Students must also complete additional credits across various categories, including A2, B2, A3, and B3, as well as at least 1.0 credit at the 4000 level to ensure exposure to advanced topics. A key feature of the program is the choice between the Course Option and the Thesis Option. The Course Option requires 3.5 additional Psychology credits, with at least 2.5 at the 3000 level or higher, while the Thesis Option includes a major research project through PSYC 4020D, along with PSYC 3017H and one additional senior-level credit. Although the department also offers a BSc with additional science and math requirements, the BA Honours program emphasizes comprehensive learning, critical thinking, and research skills, while also requiring students to meet broader university degree requirements, including an Indigenous course credit.
