COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts Honours program in Archaeology at Trent University is a 20.0-credit single-major degree requiring 10.0 credits in Anthropology and Archaeology-related courses. Students must achieve a minimum grade of 60% in ANTH-AGRS 1030H to qualify for the Honours BA in Archaeology. The core archaeological foundation includes 3.0 credits from ANTH 1001H, 1030H, 2121H, 2122H, 2123H, and 3123H, which introduce essential concepts in archaeological methods, human evolution, and material culture analysis. Students then complete 1.0 credit from advanced courses such as ANTH 3000Y, 3151H, 3152H, 3153H, 3165H, 3850Y, 3851H, or 3855H, allowing specialization in different archaeological themes. The program further requires 1.0 credit at the 4000 level from Categories A and/or B, ensuring advanced study in specialized archaeological topics. In addition, students must complete 2.5 credits at the 3000 level or higher and another 2.5 credits in Categories A and/or B, providing flexibility to explore various subfields such as environmental archaeology, bioarchaeology, or cultural heritage. Alongside these requirements, students must fulfill university-wide degree conditions, including completing 0.5 credit from the Approved Indigenous Course List, ensuring a broad and inclusive academic foundation.
