COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts Honours program in Anthropology at Trent University requires a total of 20.0 credits, including 10.0 credits specifically in Anthropology (ANTH). Students begin with 2.0 core credits from ANTH 1001H, 2001H, 2123H, and 2410H, which provide foundational knowledge in anthropology. They must also complete 0.5 credit from either ANTH 3123H or ANTH 3991H, offering opportunities for advanced or research-based learning. The program requires 1.0 credit at the 4000 level, ensuring exposure to senior-level, specialized topics. Additionally, students must complete 3.5 credits at the 3000 level or above beyond the core requirements, including at least 0.5 credit from each of Categories A, B, and C, allowing exploration of diverse subfields within anthropology. A further 3.0 ANTH credits are required, providing flexibility to pursue individual academic interests. Students are allowed to count a maximum of 1.0 credit from reading courses toward the Honours degree. For those in the joint-major with Global Development Studies, specific 2000-level course substitutions are permitted. In addition to these program requirements, all students must meet overall university degree requirements, including completing 0.5 credit from the Approved Indigenous Course List.
