COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts in Gender & Social Justice (General) at Trent University is a 15.0-credit program that provides students with a strong interdisciplinary foundation in the study of gender, power, and inequality. In the single-major option, students complete 6.0 credits in Gender & Social Justice (GESO), including core courses such as GESO 1001H, 1002H, 2141H, and 3021H, which introduce key concepts and analytical approaches in gender studies and social justice. Students are also required to complete at least 1.0 credit at the 3000 level or beyond, ensuring engagement with more advanced topics and critical perspectives. An additional 3.0 GESO credits allow students to explore specialized areas of interest, such as feminism, social movements, identity, and equity. The program maintains academic balance by limiting the number of reading courses that can count toward degree requirements. In the joint-major option, students complete 5.0 GESO credits, combining this field with another discipline for a broader academic experience. Across both options, the program emphasizes critical thinking, communication, and social awareness, preparing students to analyze complex social issues and contribute to meaningful change. In addition to major requirements, all students must fulfill university degree requirements, including completion of an Indigenous course credit, supporting a well-rounded and inclusive educational experience.
