COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts in Computing Systems at Trent University is a structured undergraduate program designed to provide students with practical and applied knowledge of modern computing technologies. In the single-major General stream, students complete a 15.0-credit degree that emphasizes software development, programming fundamentals, and the real-world application of computing systems. The program begins with core COIS courses that introduce essential topics such as programming, data structures, algorithms, and systems design. Students also take courses that focus on software development practices and the integration of computing solutions in business and organizational settings. As they progress, students move into more advanced 3000-level courses, where they deepen their understanding of computing concepts and develop specialized skills in areas such as application development, systems analysis, and computational problem-solving. The curriculum is designed to be highly practical, ensuring that students gain hands-on experience through assignments, projects, and applied learning activities that reflect real industry challenges.
