Trebas Institute Quebec Inc.

Trebas Institute is a private, for-profit Canadian college located in Montreal, Quebec, offering bilingual post-secondary programs in music, film, business, technology, and management. Established in 1979 by David P. Leonard, the institution has developed a reputation for providing specialized training in creative and professional fields. Over the years, Trebas has expanded its program offerings and enhanced its facilities to support practical, hands-on learning, aiming to prepare students for careers in competitive industries. In May 2020, the institute became part of Global University Systems, a private education company headquartered in the Netherlands, reflecting its integration into an international network of post-secondary institutions. This acquisition was intended to strengthen Trebas’s resources, global connections, and overall educational offerings. Trebas Institute has received recognition for the quality of its programs, including being voted among the best institutions for artist training in the Toronto Star 2020 Readers’ Choice Awards. The college emphasizes practical, career-oriented education, with many programs designed to provide students with both technical skills and industry knowledge needed to succeed after graduation. As of January 2021, graduates from certain programs at Trebas Institute’s Quebec campus in Montreal are eligible to receive a Canadian post-graduate work permit, allowing international students to gain work experience in Canada after completing their studies. However, programs offered at the Ontario campus in Toronto do not qualify for this permit, highlighting a key distinction between the two campuses in terms of post-graduation opportunities. Overall, Trebas Institute has established itself as a specialized institution with a focus on creative industries and professional education, combining practical training with international recognition. Its development over more than four decades, coupled with international ownership and accolades, positions it as a notable choice for students seeking targeted post-secondary education in music, film, business, technology, and management, particularly for those seeking opportunities to work in Canada after graduation.
