COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Applied Science (MASc) in Electrical Engineering requires students to complete a Master’s Thesis and the Master’s Research Seminar in Electrical and Computer Engineering (EE8010) as key milestones. In addition to these, students must earn five elective credits from a broad range of advanced courses listed in Table A and Table B. Electives cover diverse topics such as Statistical Inference (EE8102), Adaptive Signal Processing (EE8104), Digital Communications (EE8107), Wireless Communications (EE8109), Neural Networks (EE8204), Deep Learning (EE8223), Power Electronics (EE8410), Antenna Theory (EE8418), VLSI Circuits (EE8503), Smart Grids (EE8901), and Electricity Markets (EE8904), among many others. This wide selection allows students to tailor their studies to their specific interests within electrical engineering, ranging from communications, signal processing, power systems, embedded systems, to advanced topics in computer networks and biomedical engineering. The program balances theoretical knowledge and practical research skills, preparing students for careers in industry, research, or further doctoral studies. Directed studies (EE8601) and specialized topics courses provide additional flexibility to explore emerging areas. Overall, the MASc program fosters critical thinking and research proficiency in preparation for contributing to the rapidly evolving field of electrical engineering.
