COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Medical Physics at Toronto Metropolitan University shares a common first-year entry point with the Biology and Chemistry programs, allowing students to explore different science pathways before committing to Medical Physics. The first year includes foundational science courses, an introduction to using computers as scientific tools, and SCI 180, an orientation course designed to support students in transitioning to university life and planning their degree. In the upper years, students focus on developing technical skills and expertise in physics, particularly its applications in medicine such as diagnostic imaging, radiation therapy, and health physics, which addresses environmental radiation exposure. Practical laboratory work complements theoretical learning to deepen understanding. In the final year, students undertake an independent, faculty-supervised thesis project in their chosen area of study to consolidate their knowledge. Students also have the option to participate in a Co-operative Education program to gain practical work experience. Additionally, all Medical Physics students may choose to enrich their studies by enrolling in the Management Science Specialization, broadening their skills in organizational and management principles alongside their scientific training.
