COURSE CURRICULUM

The Aerospace Engineering program at Toronto Metropolitan University offers a comprehensive education, preparing students for careers in the aerospace industry by covering key subjects such as aerodynamics, stress analysis, structural design, flight mechanics, stability and control, and aircraft performance. The curriculum also includes courses from Mechanical and Electrical Engineering to provide a well-rounded technical foundation. In the first year, students study mathematics, basic sciences, computer programming, and introductory engineering. The second and third years expand to aerospace and mechanical engineering courses, alongside communications, advanced mathematics, electronics, and electrical engineering. Design skills are emphasized, supported by computer and hardware labs, while humanities and social sciences courses offer a broader perspective. By the sixth semester, students select a stream: Aircraft, Avionics, or Spacecraft. The final year includes a capstone design project, a professional practice course, and an examination of technology’s societal impact.To support students who may need additional help adapting to the rigorous curriculum, the program offers transition pathways. The First Year Transition Program allows students to retake failed or missed first-semester core courses in a parallel second-semester program and complete second-semester courses during a condensed Spring semester. The Second Year Transition Program offers students who struggle with key second-year courses the chance to retake them in a condensed Spring/Summer semester to remain on track for promotion to third year. These transition options help students maintain academic progress and success.
