The Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) in Hospitality and Tourism Management at Toronto Metropolitan University offers a comprehensive eight-semester curriculum that combines business fundamentals with specialized industry training. In the first semester, students take Introductory Microeconomics (ECN 104), Introduction to Professional Communication (CMN 279), Introduction to Business of Hospitality (HTH 100), Applied Mathematics for Business (QMS 110), and one lower-level liberal studies course. The second semester includes Introductory Financial Accounting (ACC 100), Introductory Macroeconomics (ECN 204), Tourism Experiences Management (HTT 100), Business Information Systems I (ITM 102), and one lower-level liberal studies course. In the third semester, students complete Human Resources Administration (HTH 503), Marketing Principles (HTM 302), Applied Statistics for Business (QMS 210), one lower-level liberal studies course, and one core elective from Table I. The fourth semester features Management Accounting for HTM (HTA 402), Organizational Behaviour (HTH 601), Business Law (LAW 122), one core elective, and one open elective. The fifth semester advances into Financial Management for Hospitality/Tourism (HTA 602), Professional Ethics in Hospitality/Tourism (HTH 700), Hospitality and Tourism Research Concepts (HTR 741), one upper-level liberal studies course, and one core elective. In the sixth semester, students study Advanced Service Management Systems (HTH 501), Hospitality Information Systems (HTI 404), one upper-level liberal studies course, one core elective, and one open elective. The final year sharpens strategic leadership and sustainability skills. In the seventh semester, students complete either Revenue Management for Hospitality/Tourism (HTA 708) or Strategy and Leadership (HTR 941), Sustainable Tourism Development (HTT 510), one core elective, and two open electives. In the eighth semester, students take the remaining of HTA 708 or HTR 941, one upper-level liberal studies course, one core elective, and two open electives. This curriculum provides a strong foundation in both business and industry-specific knowledge, preparing graduates for leadership roles in global hospitality and tourism sectors.
