COURSE CURRICULUM

The Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Mathematics and Economics at Thompson Rivers University is a 20-course program designed for students who already hold a bachelor’s degree and want to develop advanced quantitative, mathematical, and economic analysis skills. The program begins with core mathematics and economics courses such as calculus, linear algebra, probability and statistics, intermediate microeconomics, and intermediate macroeconomics. These courses build a strong foundation in mathematical reasoning, statistical methods, and economic theory. Students then take applied economics courses such as managerial decision-making for a sustainable future, which focuses on using economic tools to solve real-world problems. The curriculum also includes applied regression analysis, which develops data modeling and statistical interpretation skills essential for research and decision-making. Students further select courses from advanced mathematics and statistics areas such as differential equations, stochastic processes, statistical inference, mathematical computing, and optimization modeling, strengthening their analytical and computational abilities. In addition, students choose upper-level economics electives such as econometrics, forecasting in business and economics, industrial organization, and mathematical economics, allowing specialization in applied economic analysis.
