COURSE CURRICULUM

The Management Diploma at Thompson Rivers University is a two-year program designed to build strong foundational and advanced business skills for students aiming to enter management, administration, sales, and related fields. In the first year, students study core subjects such as mathematics for business, university writing, introduction to business, basic economics or microeconomics, financial accounting, accounting software systems, management information systems, and organizational behaviour. These courses provide essential knowledge in business operations, financial systems, communication, and workplace dynamics. In the second year, the program focuses on more advanced business applications including management accounting, business statistics, marketing, human resource management, and commercial law. Students further develop skills in professional selling, international business, business ethics, and teamwork in organizations. They also choose electives in areas such as financial management, consumer behaviour, labour relations, employment law, or advanced HR topics, allowing specialization based on career goals. The program requires students to achieve a minimum grade of C- in all courses to graduate. It also offers flexibility with full-time, part-time, on-campus, and distance learning options. Graduates are well-prepared for roles as management trainees, sales professionals, human resource assistants, or entrepreneurs. The diploma also allows laddering into the Bachelor of Business Administration program with advanced standing, enabling faster completion of a degree.
