COURSE CURRICULUM

Heavy Mechanical Foundation program, graduates receive a Heavy Mechanical Foundation Certificate of Completion, which formally recognizes their technical training and readiness for entry into the heavy mechanical trades. The program also provides the required in-school technical training for Level 1 apprenticeship pathways in several Red Seal trades, including Heavy Duty Equipment Technician, Diesel Engine Mechanic, Transport Trailer Technician, and Truck and Transport Mechanic. This means students are fully prepared to enter apprenticeship programs in multiple high-demand areas within the transportation, construction, and industrial sectors. In addition to classroom and shop-based learning, graduates earn 450 hours of work-based training credit, which is applied toward their apprenticeship requirements. This practical experience is highly valuable, as it gives students real exposure to industry environments and helps them develop essential hands-on skills under supervision. The combination of technical instruction and work-based training ensures that graduates are job-ready and confident in performing maintenance, diagnostics, and repair tasks on heavy vehicles and equipment. Overall, the program not only builds strong foundational knowledge but also accelerates the apprenticeship process, giving students a significant advantage as they begin their careers in the heavy mechanical industry.
