COURSE CURRICULUM

The Welder Level 1 & 2 program is an introductory training pathway designed to prepare students for entry-level positions as apprentice welders across a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, construction, transportation, resource extraction, and resource development. The program combines both classroom instruction and hands-on shop experience to ensure students develop a strong balance of theoretical knowledge and practical skills. In the classroom, learners study the fundamental principles of welding, including safety practices, welding theory, material properties, and the proper use of welding codes and standards. They also learn how to interpret technical drawings and understand basic fabrication concepts. In the shop environment, students gain practical experience using welding equipment and tools, allowing them to practice and master different welding processes under supervision. This hands-on training helps develop accuracy, control, and confidence in performing welding tasks. The program is structured into Level 1 and Level 2 training, with each level building on the skills learned in the previous stage. After completing each level, students are required to take a standardized written examination administered by SkilledTradesBC to assess their knowledge and competency. Overall, this program provides a strong foundation for those pursuing a career as a certified welder in various industrial sectors.
