COURSE CURRICULUM

The program requires a total of 36 credits and is designed to provide a balanced combination of language proficiency, cultural understanding, and interdisciplinary learning. Students begin by completing 12 credits of introductory language instruction at the 1000 level in two different languages, building a strong foundation in basic communication skills and grammar. This is followed by 6 credits at the 2000 level, where learners advance their fluency and deepen their comprehension. To enhance cultural awareness, students must also complete 3 credits in cultural theory at the 2000 or 3000 level from an approved list of courses, allowing them to explore critical perspectives on culture, identity, and society. In addition, the program includes at least 3 credits earned through an approved cultural or language-oriented field school or study abroad experience, giving students the opportunity to apply their knowledge in real-world, immersive environments. To broaden academic exposure, students are required to take 12 credits of electives across at least three different disciplines from a designated list, encouraging interdisciplinary thinking and flexibility. Overall, the program structure supports both linguistic development and global competence while promoting academic diversity and practical experience.
