COURSE CURRICULUM

The Economics Major provides students with a strong foundation in economic theory while also developing practical analytical skills used in business, government, and policy environments. Students learn key tools such as pricing analysis, cost-benefit analysis, forecasting, and industry evaluation, which help them understand how markets and economies function and interact. The program emphasizes how economic systems influence business decision-making and how organizations respond to regulatory environments, with a strong focus on applying economic concepts to real-world policy issues. As part of the major, students complete core courses including Intermediate Microeconomics and Macroeconomics, followed by 24 additional upper-level Economics credits at the 3000 and 4000 level, with at least 6 credits at the advanced 4000 level. Students also choose either Intermediate Microeconomics II or Intermediate Macroeconomics II to deepen their theoretical understanding. A wide range of upper-level electives allows students to specialize in areas such as environmental economics, international trade and finance, public finance, labour economics, econometrics, health economics, and sustainable development. This flexible yet rigorous structure prepares graduates for careers in government, banking, consulting, international organizations, NGOs, and research institutions. Overall, the program equips students with strong quantitative, analytical, and decision-making skills that are highly valued across industries.
