COURSE CURRICULUM

This program structure requires a total of 12 credits, with a minimum grade of C- in each course, and focuses on the social, cultural, and community aspects of tourism. Students must complete 6 required credits, including TMGT 3010 Community and Cultural Issues in Tourism and TMGT 4100 The Social Side of Tourism, which provide a strong foundation in understanding how tourism impacts societies, cultures, and local communities. In addition to these core courses, students select remaining credits from a diverse range of electives that allow them to explore specific interests within the tourism field. Options include Land Use Management and Tourism, Resort Management, Tourism and Sustainable Development, Event Tourism, and Tourism in a Global Environment, along with special topics courses that address emerging trends. Students can also choose selected Adventure Studies courses such as Contemporary Perspectives in the Eco and Adventure Industry, Nature and Community Based Development, and The Culture of Adventure, which broaden their perspective on sustainable and experience-based tourism. This flexible structure ensures a balance between theoretical insight and practical understanding, preparing students to address social and environmental challenges, promote responsible tourism practices, and contribute effectively to the development of sustainable tourism industries worldwide.
