COURSE CURRICULUM

The TRU Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) is a four-year professional degree designed to build progressive knowledge and clinical skills through integrated theory and practice courses. In Year 1, students begin with foundational courses such as NURS 1170 Communication and Collaboration, NURS 1700 Introduction to Nursing Practice and Professionalism, BIOL 1592/1692 Human Biology (Anatomy & Physiology), and early nursing practice courses like NURS 1740 and NURS 1840, which introduce community-based clinical experiences and basic health assessment skills. Year 2 builds stronger clinical and theoretical foundations through courses such as NURS 2170 Communication and Collaboration 2, NURS 2300 Nursing Research, NURS 2750 Community Health Nursing, NURS 2740 Nursing Practice 3, HLSC 2660 Pharmacology, and HLSC 2550 Pathophysiology, focusing on health promotion, medication safety, and community care. In Year 3, students advance into complex care with courses like NURS 2830 Health Transitions, NURS 3380 or NURS 3390 Consolidated Practice Experience (including optional international placement), and additional interdisciplinary health science courses. Year 4 emphasizes leadership and advanced practice through NURS 4300 Professionalism and Leadership, NURS 4740 Complex Health Transitions, and NURS 4380 Nursing Practice in Complex Settings. Across all years, students continuously engage in clinical practicums, simulation labs, and community placements, integrating theory with real-world nursing practice.
