ABOUT UNIVERSITY

The King's University, located in Edmonton, Alberta, is a publicly funded Christian university offering bachelor's degrees in arts, humanities, music, social sciences, natural sciences, business, and education. Established in 1979 as The King's College, it gained the right to confer degrees in 1987 and became The King's University in 2015. Serving over 900 students from Canada and abroad, it accepts students of all faiths and is known for its diverse academic offerings, including notable programs in Environmental Studies and Politics-History-Economics. The university emphasizes undergraduate research through its partnerships and initiatives like The King’s Centre for Visualization in Science. It is affiliated with the University of Alberta, facilitating course transfers and access to resources. The university was central to the landmark Vriend v. Alberta case, which led to the inclusion of sexual orientation in Alberta’s human rights protections. Since then, it has evolved into an inclusive institution, hosting its first Pride event in 2018 and supporting an active LGBTQ+ student group.
