COURSE CURRICULUM

The Computer Networking Technician Certificate at Suncrest College is structured over three semesters, providing a comprehensive foundation in networking, IT support, programming, and cybersecurity. In the first semester, students begin with fundamental courses including A+ Cisco IT Essentials 1 and 2 (CNET-113 and CNET-114), introducing core hardware, software, and networking concepts, alongside CISCO Network Associate 1A and 1B (CNET-115 and CNET-116) to establish initial networking skills. Semester two builds on this foundation with CISCO Network Associate 2A and 2B (CNET-117 and CNET-118), managing modern desktops (CNET-112), programming with Python (CNET-121), Linux+ (COOS-101), and Windows Server Administration (CSRV-103), integrating practical IT system management and server administration skills, while also including an Introduction to Indigenous Studies course (INDG 100) and communications for technicians (TCOM-105) to strengthen professional competencies. In the third semester, students advance to CISCO Network Associate 3A and 3B (CNET-119 and CNET-120), CCNA Cybersecurity Operations (COAP-104), and Information Technology Project Management (CPMG-100), preparing them for industry-standard certification exams and real-world project management scenarios. Across the program, students gain hands-on experience in networking, server administration, cybersecurity, and programming, while also developing critical problem-solving, communication, and project management skills. This integrated curriculum equips graduates with the technical expertise and professional competencies required for a wide range of IT and networking roles, including network support, system administration, and cybersecurity operations, ensuring readiness for immediate employment or further certification.
