COURSE CURRICULUM

The Interdisciplinary Major in Digital Media and Creative Arts (DIGM) at St. Thomas University is designed for Bachelor of Arts students who are interested in exploring digital media, creative production, and their relationship with society. The program requires a total of 36 credit hours and combines theoretical study with hands-on digital creation. Students begin with two core courses: Digital Media Creation (DIGM 2013) and Digital Media Production (DIGM 2023), which introduce essential concepts and practical skills in digital storytelling and media development. In addition, students must complete at least two advanced courses such as Digital Photography, Documentary Film Creation and Production, Podcasting, or AI and the Creative Digital Arts, allowing them to specialize in specific creative areas. The remaining credits are selected from a wide range of approved electives across disciplines such as communications, journalism, sociology, criminology, English, fine arts, history, human rights, philosophy, and environmental studies. This interdisciplinary structure allows students to study topics like digital literacy, film studies, creative writing, social media, media ethics, journalism, visual arts, and cultural studies. The program emphasizes both critical thinking and practical production skills, supported by access to digital tools and creative technologies. Overall, DIGM prepares students for careers in digital media, content creation, film, journalism, communications, arts industries, and other creative and media-related fields.
